kafta with potatoes

A traditional dish, Kafta with Potatoes, tomatoes and onions is a hearty, easy and colorful recipe to offer to your family.



1 kilo minced meat (lamb or beef)

2 big onions

100 g chopped parsley

1 tablespoon flour

taste to salt and pepper


4 medium potatoes peeled, cut into circles.

2 medium soft tomatoes, cut into circles

2 medium onions, peeled, cut round

salt to taste

3 tablespoons tomato paste

2 ½ cups water

How to Cook:


Grind the onion & parsley. Mix the onion, parsley & meat together. Then, add flour, salt & pepper.

Take a small piece of meat and roll it by hand to create a sausage shape.

Place all the rolled meat in one tray.

Bake the kafta in the oven between 15 to 20 minutes.


Heat the potatoes in a pot with water until it starts boiling, and then remove them.

Put the baked kafta in a Pyrex. Place one layer of onions over the Kafta. Then, add a layer of tomatoes and a layer of potatoes.

Mix the tomato paste in the water with salt.

Pour the mixture onto the kafta preparation.

Bake in oven for 40 to 50 minutes or until golden.
