cookies with dates (kaak bel tamer)

A classic the whole family loves.

Ingredients

Dough:

100 g butter, melted

500 g flour

1 tablespoon powdered sugar

1 pinch salt

¼ teaspoon fenugreek

¼ teaspoon nutmeg

¼ teaspoon powdered musk

1 cup milk

½ teaspoon bicarbonate of soda

Filling:

1 kg seeded dates

150 g butter, melted

¼ teaspoon nutmeg

1 teaspoon rose water

1 pinch powdered musk

How to Cook:

Dough:

Mix and knead all ingredients until you have soft dough. Divide the dough into 3 balls. Cover and let it rest for half an hour.

Filling:

Place the dates in a tray with the butter and put it in the oven until the butter melts. Then, grind the dates with the remaining ingredients in a food processor. Take a small piece of the grind dates and roll it by hand to create a small stick (6 cm.).

Continue the same procedure until all the grinded dates are finished.

Cookies:

Roll the dough on a floured table until it becomes thin. Cut it with a rounded cookie cutter (6 cm diameter) to create Circles. Place a date stick in each circle and roll it. Press the edges together and place in an oiled tray.

Continue the procedure until all the dough has finished. Bake them in the oven until golden.
