Descending from authentic Turkish roots, it’s time for some mouthwatering Daoud Basha with 2 amazing possibilities, either lamb or veal, you take the final call!

Ingredients

Meat;

 

  • 1 Kg Ground meat (lamb or beef)
  • 2 Big onions
  • 1 Bunch parsley
  • 2 Tablespoons flour
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Sauce:

 

  • 4 Onions sliced thin
  • 3 Red & soft tomatoes, diced
  • 1 Tablespoon corn oil
  • 2 Tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1 Cinnamon stick
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 5 Cups water

Rice:

 

  • ½ Cup Egyptian Rice
  • ½ Cup Uncle Benz Rice
  • ½ Cup vermicelli
  • 1 ¾ Cup water
  • Salt to taste

How to Cook:

Meat:

 

  • Grind the onion & parsley and add them to meat making sure to mix well. Then, add salt, pepper & flour. Using your hands, take a small piece of meat and roll it into round balls. Place all the meatballs in a tray.
  • Bake in the oven for 15 to 20 minutes.

 

Sauce:

 

  • Fry the onions with oil in a pan, then, add the tomatoes and stir for 7 minutes. Next, add the water, pepper, salt &cinnamon stick. Lastly add the tomato paste.
  • Cook on low heat for 15 minutes, then add the meatballs and continue to cook until the sauce thickens.

 

Rice:

 

  • Soak the two types of rice in water for half an hour before cooking.
  • Fry half a cup of vermicelli; add the rice, with water and salt.
  • Once it starts boiling, reduce the heat & cook the rice until all the water evaporates.
