4 cups sugar

2 cups water

1 teaspoon orange blossom water

1 teaspoon rose water

2 tablespoons lemon juice

4 cups flour

1 tablespoon instant yeast

2 ½ cups water

½ cup anise seeds

½ cup sesame seeds

generous amount of oil to fry

How to Cook:

Put the sugar & water in a pan & boil while constantly stirring. Keep stirring until it thickens. Then, add the orange blossom water, rose water and lemon juice.

Put all of the ingredients in a bowl, except the oil and mix well until you obtain loose and soft dough.

Cover and let it rest for 4 hours.

If the dough is stiff, add more water.

In a deep pan, heat the oil. Take one small piece from the dough, stretch it out & fry it. When it is golden, flip it over to the other side. Then strain it, and drop it in the hot syrup.

Repeat this procedure until all of the dough is finished.

Makes around 35 pieces.
