chicken and potatoes stew

The chicken and potatoes in this stew combine together to create a hearty and nourishing meal that will warm you up from inside out. It’s a dish that so many of us have grown up with, and now it’s time to prepare it yourself with Sousou.


4 chicken legs cut into 8 pieces

3 chicken breasts cut into 12 pieces

1 big onion, diced

6 cloves garlic, smashed

5 medium potatoes cut into big cubes

salt to taste

2 tablespoons tomato paste

1 stick cinnamon

2 tablespoons corn oil


½ cup egyptian rice

½ cup uncle benz rice

½ cup vermicelli

1 ¾ cups water

salt to taste

How to Cook:


In a pan on the stove, fry the onions and garlic with oil until light golden. Then, add the chicken and fry them. Next, add the potatoes salt, pepper and cinnamon stick.

Add the tomato paste. Cover with water and cook. Reduce the heat when it starts boiling. Let it simmer for half an hour until the chicken is cooked.


Soak the two types of rice in water for half an hour before cooking.

In a pan, fry the vermicelli until golden; then, add the rice and water.

Once it starts boiling, reduce the heat and cook the rice until all water evaporates.

Serve the rice with the stew.
